Meet the Team: Christie Anderson, 2017 Market Manager

Get to Know Our 2017 Market Manager

Our market is run by a team of Steering Committee members, volunteers, and passionate people who love seeing local businesses and guests from the community come together to create a vibrant, cheerful gathering place. We want to help you get to know our team, so we will be doing regular features of our Steering Committee members, volunteers, and other team members.  This week, we will get familiar with our 2017 Market Manager, Christie Anderson.

Christie is a market committee volunteer turned Market Manager.
After spending seven years working overseas in Scottish pubs, New Zealand backpackers hostels, and on Australian fruit fields, she decided to return to her home province of Alberta.  In 2012, she took a 200-hour yoga teacher training course, and was introduced to mindful living, making conscious buying choices, supporting local economies, and clean eating. The next year she quit her job at a remote NWT diamond mine and was committed to creating a life that aligned with her values.  Part of this has been a career change (she is currently a student in a 2200-hr Massage Therapy program), as well as a commitment in getting to know as many people as possible in her community, and working with grassroots and community-minded organizations.

Christie is certain that 2017 is going to be an amazing market season.  She looks forward to meeting more wonderful community members, vendors, and volunteers beginning on May 4th.  When you see Christie at the market, please come and say ‘hello’, as she’d love to tell you about the SWEFM and let you know what the best treats and treasures are at the market that day!

You can connect with Christie Anderson at or on the SWEFM Facebook page!
