The Canadian Parks and Wilderness Society (CPAWS) is a national, non-profit organization dedicated to protecting Canada’s wildlife, waters and wilderness through the creation and appropriate management of parks and protected areas. CPAWS Northern Alberta has championed the protection of Alberta’s diverse natural heritage since our establishment as CPAWS’ first regional chapter in 1968. Together, we are working to keep at least half of Canada’s public land and water wild – forever. We will be chatting about a number of our programs, from what can be done to conserve Canada’s last caribou and other species at risk, to how parks and protected areas play a role in preparing for climate change, to the importance of protecting our headwater regions.
